Dowson Farms Ordered to Pay $5M to Feds

A family farm business had to return federal subsidy payments that the U.S. Department of Agriculture claims they were not entitled to.

Dowson Farms of Divernon paid more than 5 million dollars back to the United States which they received from January, 2002 through December 31, 2008.

The law says only three entities are allowed to receive payments, but the Feds claim the Dowsons created multiple limited partnerships to conceal their interests.
