Another year, another steady enrollment picture for District 186.
Springfield School Board members learned Monday that the district has 15,261 enrolled students.
“I think it’s a pretty good indicator, the enrollment’s steady,” says Board President Chuck Flamini. “What we lose we gain somewhere else.”
There are 4,104 high school students enrolled this year, along with 3,277 middle school students and 7,880 students in grades K-5.
Flamini can’t put his finger on one factor that specifically affects enrollment, but notes people move in and out of Springfield all the time and the district’s student population ebbs and flows with the city’s population, which has also been relatively steady.
