DCFS to Investigate Abuse Case at Hope Institute

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has opened an investigation into possible abuse of a 10-year old boy at the Hope Institute in Springfield.  Hope spokesman Mark Schmidt says his organization is cooperating with DCFS and safety of their children in their care is paramount.

“We regard the saftety of the children in our care as top priority.  We are cooperating fully with current DCFS reviews of our safety procedures” says Schmidt.

Schmidt says the boy was found with bruises and was recently transferred to Hope from a Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health Center on South 6th Street.
