U.S. Congressman Rodney Davis says he respects the decision of the Supreme Court of gay marriage benefits but he doesn’t agree with it.
Following a U.S. Supreme Court decision to strike down the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, rallies were held all over the country. Davis says that marriage as a religious institution. He says he understands the high court handles controversial legal challenges such as this one.
“This isn’t about discrimination. It’s about the definition of marriage and finding a balance between churches and same sex couples and yesterday the Supreme Court decided it’s up to the states to define the definition of marriage and I respect their decision.”
Davis says he wants to make sure religious freedoms are protected as well.
Davis added that most people are more concerned with the economy and unemployment rate rather than this social issue.
