A spokesman for former White House chief of staff Bill Daley says he expects Cook County Democrats to endorse Gov. Pat Quinn “no matter how failed (Quinn’s) record is.”
The leaders of the state’s largest Democratic party organization met Friday to slate candidates for the 2014 election.
Daley didn’t attend the meeting. In a statement, spokesman Pete Giangreco noted the group backed now-imprisoned former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Quinn in the last three slate-making sessions. He says the Daley campaign didn’t see any reason that would change this year.
Quinn told the party leaders he’s worked to improve the economy, clean up government and create jobs.
He also said the organization was a big help in his 2010 victory, and he predicted another tough race in 2014.
