Conceal Carry Training Takes Shape
Conceal Carry Training Takes Shape
A curriculum is coming together for police officers in Illinois, as they prepare for the legality of concealed-carry.
The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board is working with the University of Illinois’ Police Training Institute on this. Subjects include how to enforce the new law, what to do when people are not following it, and how the law may affect police and public safety.
“When they see weapons on the street with individuals,” says ILETSB executive director Kevin McClain, police must “factor in the new possibility that these individuals may be carrying these weapons with complete authority and the right to do so.”
The curriculum will be part of police academy training in Illinois and will also be available to active officers, with local departments encouraged to get it for their forces.
