City’s Checkbook Now On-Line

Beginning Wenesday, anyone anywhere can see where the city’s money is going.  Springfield Budget Director Bill McCarty says the city has put all financial data, except CWLP information. on a new website.

“For the city of Springfield and for it’s citizens this represents a giant leap in transparency.  Anything is now available for anyone in this room or anyone around the world, quite frankly” McCarty told aldermen Tuesday night.

McCarty says the program to run the website costs less than 6-thousand dollars a year and will be updated monthly.  Visitors to the website will be able to see what has been budgeted, the amount of money that has been spent, and where that money is going.

The website can be reached by clicking on the link below.
