Chatham Officials Gird Themselves for Possible Legal Battle

Residents that are part of the South Sangamon Water District are now facing legal bills.  Chatham Village Trustees voted to hire an outside law firm to guide the village through expected litigation with CWLP.  The Delano law firm is being retained and Tom Pavlik with the firm is hoping to negotiate Chatham’s decision to exit an agreement with CWLP early and operate their own water plant.

“We are having Mr. Pavlik initiate discussions with the city” according to Gray. He says he cannot further discuss the issue because of pending litigation.

Gray cannot give a time-table for any discussions to begin.  He does say he is hopeful the village can avoid a courtroom and negotiate with the utility soon.
