Changes Coming to First Night
Changes Coming to First Night

Some changes to First Night Springfield are being introduced for the 27th edition of the event. Craig McFarland, Board President of the Springfield Area Arts Council, says the popular New Year’s Eve event is being updated.

“This year we are working in mixing tradition with some new events, some returning features, some new times, and a mix of new performers with favorites from past years” McFarland says.

The Scheels 5K “Walk/Run/Stroll” has been added and will be held  Sunday December 29th at the Scheels property with an after-party at Quaker Steak and Lube restuarant. For the first time ever in the history of First Night, a buffet dinner will be offered at the Hoogland Center for the Arts.  A new venue has also been added for performances- the Great Hall in the Illinois Historic Preservation Building.  The favorites are still the on the schedule to include fireworks on the 31st.  Buttons for admission will be available December 1st.
