Ameren Gas Rates to Climb, But Not As Much As Requested

Your natural gas bill will climb, but not by as much as Ameren requested.  The utility was seeking a rate increase for delivery, which is where the company makes most of its money.

“The company is requesting a $47-million increase and a recommendation from a law judge,  which is just a recommendation to the five member board so we will have to wait to see what they will decide next week,” says Beth Bosch, spokeswoman for the Illinois Commerce Commission, “But right now it is $36-million increase on the gas side.”

The ICC cut Ameren’s proposed delivery rate increase for electric customers from $45-million to $37-million, a decision Ameren is still reviewing.
