87 Springfield Public School students have missed nearly three weeks of school because they don’t have proper immunizations.
That number is down from the roughly 500 that missed school on October 15th, the state mandated deadline for updated immunizations.
“Kids are missing the last week of the first quarter and the first two weeks of the second quarter,” said Mike Zimmers of Subdistrict 4. “That’s problematic because they’ll get behind.”
Students currently missing school can make up the work they’re missing. The school board started dicussing moving the immunization deadline earlier so parents would get it taken care of before school starts.
