The national Climate Prediction Center says a repeat of the drought of 2012 is unlikely to be repeated this summer.
The forecast for June through August shows “equal chances” of below-and-above-average temperatures and precipitation in most of the state. Climatologist Jim Angel of the Illinois State Water Survey says in contrast to last year, precipitation has been above average and temperatures below average for much of January through April.
