186 Superintendent: District Needs More Money

Is more money for schools the answer?¬† According to District 186’s Interim Superintendent Bob Leming, the district has cut their costs to the bone and says a parent-led push to place a tax hike referendum on the ballot next year may be just the catalyst to raise achievement scores in Springfield’s public schools.

“We can do a little more cutting and we are planning¬†to do that but then after that we need to figure out more revenue to run this district and offer the types of educational programs I think that our families and our kids deserve” Leming says.

Appearing live on WTAX’s Ray Lytle show Tuesday, Leming says he believes district personnel are doing all they can to reign in costs and says it is time for the community to step up and shore up the school district.
