Warning About Man Impersonating An Officer.

Sangamon County Undersheriff Jack Campbell is urging the public to be on the lookout for a man impersonating a police officer.  The suspect is accused of pulling over and assaulting a female on Sunday Morning in the 53-hundred block of Old Jacksonville Road.

Campbell says trust your instincts.  If you don't think the person is legit, get to a well lit area and call 9-1-1.  Campbell says you won't get in trouble if you wait to pull over and call to check on the officer's status.

The suspect is a white male said to be in his 50s with salt and pepper hair, thick glasses, and a southern accent.  He was driving an older. small white 4-door car in poor condition using a white flasher light.

If you have any information that can help lead to an arrest contact Sangamon County Sheriff's department at 753-6840.
