Trucking Company Complains About Falling Rock Off Bissell Road.

A Springfield trucking company says some of their vehicles have been damaged by falling concrete off the Bissell Road overpass near mile marker 101 on Interstate 55. But the Illinois Department of Transportation says not so.

The Springfield Beelman trucking company tells WTAX it's been calling IDOT for weeks with no response other than "we'll look into it." During that time two trucks were damaged.

An IDOT official says crews have been out to inspect the bridge as recently as Thursday. They found no structural damage, and many of the large rocks are likely landscaping rocks from a nearby company that doesn't properly cover its trucks while using the overpass.

Bissell road is a narrow, heavily traveled road in north Springfield that serves as an artery between Route 54 and Dirksen Parkway. It's rough in spots and has no shoulders, including on the overpass.
