Springfield City Council to Consider Lifting Video Gambling Ban.

Video gambling in Springfield could soon become legal.  Springfield Aldermen are expected to vote on a measure to lift the ban on video gambling on July 17th.

Ward One Alderman Frank Edwards that it makes sense to do it.  He says he'll vote for it.  He says we have people leaving oru communities and go up to the boat in Peoria and down to St. Louis.  He wants to see if we can keep some of that money local.

It's unclear how much money Springfield would make from video gaming, but the money it does make will go to fund infrastructure improvements.  Five percent of the revenues from each machine will go to the city.
