Sangamon County Cracks Down On Rural Crime

Officials in Sangamon County are teaming up to crack down on rural crime.

The Sangamon County Farm Bureau is joining up with the sheriff's office for a new system called eLert. The program allows sheriff's officials to use email and text messages to notify members of the farm bureau whenever there is criminal activity in their area.

Farmers are then encouraged to keep an eye out for suspects and call
9-1-1 if they see anything.
