Rep. Elect Scherer Learns the Ropes

The responsibility of holding an elected office is becoming all-too-real for State Representative-elect Sue Scherer of Decatur.

"Sitting in that House and looking at Stephen Douglas and Abe Lincoln, and thinking 'oh my God,' the weight, just.... every vote you take affects someone's life."

Scherer represents the 96th district, which covers eastern portions of Springfield in heads east to Decatur.

Scherer joins her fellow freshmen lawmakers at the Statehouse Inn this week for a series of meetings and presentations to learn the ropes ahead of their January inauguration.
