Police Seize 100+ Marijuana Plants



A Springfield man has been arrested after police found more than 100 marijuana plants growing in his basement along with grow lights, fertilizer, drug paraphenelia and roughly $2,000 in cash.

The Sangamon County Drug Interdiction Response Team served a warrant in the 200 block of north English Tuesday morning and arrested 40 year old James Merrifield.

He's been charged with posession and production of more than 50 cannabis plants, and posession of more than 500 grams of cannabis.
