Nelson Center needs new boiler

The boiler at the Nelson Center has gone out and that means a new one has to be ordered and installed.

In the meantime, that means lukewarm showers - as long as the temperature stays in the 90's - and a temporary fix in the concession area.

Springfield Park District Executive Director Mike Stratton says they knew the boiler was going out and had budgeted funds to replace it. The district had hoped to make it through the summer months, but will take about 4 to 5 weeks to replace.

A special meeting of the park district board has been called to approve the purchase of the new system.
