Melody Lyons Faces First Degree Murder Charges.

Bond has been set for a Springfield woman accused in a double murder last Friday.

Sangamon County State's Attorney John Milhiser says 50-year old Melody Lyons faces six counts of first degree murder. He says her bond has been set at 10-million dollars.  Milhiser says the amount of the bond was purposely set to keep Melody Lyons in custody to protect the public after the horrific nature of her actions.

Lyons was arrested the day of the shootings at a home at 6404  Winterberry Lane off Toronto Road. Police say a domestic disturbance led to the fatal shootings of her husband, Lloyd Lyons and his uncle, Henry Gilbert. Both died of multiple gunshot wounds. Her next court appearance is scheduled June 28th.
