Former San Jose, Ill. Treasurer Arrested

The former treasurer of San Jose in Mason County has been arrested, accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the village over the past three years.

The Illinois State Police says Melanie Blair allegedly used her access to the village's bank account, plus her full time job at a local bank, to transfer the money to her own account.

Audits say descrepancies were noticed between September 2009 and three weeks ago. Blair has been arrested and booked in the Mason County Jail on one count of theft over $10,000, which is a felony.
