September 11: ten years later

This year, we pause to remember those we lost 10 years ago during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We also celebrate strength and determination that has pushed us forward in the face of adversity.

Discovery series documents rebuilding Ground Zero

The Discovery Channel aired the first of a series of programs on Thursday by Executive Producer Steven Spielberg that reveal what's going on behind the tall fence surrounding Ground Zero.

"The Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero" is a series of documentaries that follow the trials and tribulations involved in rebuilding from the rubble. The first installments featured several workers at Ground Zero from the architects who designed the buildings to the steelworkers piecing together the skeleton of Tower One hundreds of stories high in the air, floor by floor.

“Even though there is a skyscraper now shooting into the sky, most New Yorkers really aren’t aware of what is going on because there is a huge fence. But on 9/11 the fence is coming down, and I think the eyes of the world will turn back to Ground Zero,” fellow Executive Producer Danny Forster, told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “It is the tallest building in American history, 105 floors. The body of the building is the same height as the original tower, but rising from the top is a 400-foot spire which takes the building to a very symbolic height of 1776, the declaration of independence. So the building, to its peak, will be 1776 feet tall.”

Spielbergs' cameras are committed for the long haul and will be rolling at the 9/11 ceremony when the fences are knocked down and the memorial is unveiled to the families of 9/11 victims. Click here for a programming schedule.
