Dept of Public Health: Stomach bug Going Around

The Stomach bug is going around, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health

Health Oficials say your best defense is frequent hand washing. Pockets of norovirus outbreaks are being seen in Illinois and the illness is likely more widespread since most cases go unreported. Public Health Spokesperson Melaney Arnold says the stomach bug, unlike the flu, includes vomiting, cramping in the stomach and diarrhea. She says making sure you wash your hands often and thoroughly is the best way to keep from getting sick.

Eighty percent of norovirus outbreaks occur between November and April. Most cases are not serious and only last a day or two.
