College Illinois! Taking New Applicants

Parents wanting to put money into the state’s College Illinois prepaid tuition program will have another chance to do so. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission will sell new contracts for seven months starting Oct. 1.

ISAC spokesman John Samuels says there is an incentive to sign up before the end of the year: “From October 1 through December, we’ll be using the pricing that was in effect from September 2011; and then, starting on January 1, there will most likely be an increase.”

While public concern over risky investments led to ISAC holding off on new contracts, the strategy has been dialed down. And Samuels says ISAC has not missed a payment or a deadline.
