City of Springfield Assesses Hiring Practices.

City hiring practices were brought up for discussion during Tuesdays Committee of the Whole meeting for the city council.  Ward One Alderman Frank Edwards suggested a hiring preference be considered for local residents.  Ward Five Alderman Sam Cahnman added that City residents should be given consideration during promotions, as well.  Ward Three Alderman Doris Turner believes Springfield needs to begin with Affirmative Action.  The City's corporation counsel is drafting the ordinances.  Alderman will discuss them with Human Resources when they are ready for review.
