Chicago Officials, Sen. Durbin Call for Stronger Gun Laws

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy is joining U.S. Senator Dick Durbin in calling for stronger gun laws.

McCarthy says legislation like New York City's will prevent the sale of illegal guns.  Both McCarthy and Durbin told reporters on Friday it was very important for the feds to "do something" to make America safer. Meanwhile, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is trying to use financial pressure to get gun manufacturers to support an assault weapons ban.

Emanuel has contacted the CEOs of Bank of America and TD Bank, asking them to stop extending credit to companies that make assault rifles until they agree to back new gun laws.
