Central Illinois Mayors Endorse Davis

Experience working with a longtime congressman is serving Rodney Davis well, at least in gaining the confidence of mayors of the new 13th District. The Republican, who used to work for U. S. Rep. John Shimkus (R-Collinsville), reminds one of them of current U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray La Hood.

Springfield Mayor Mike Houston says in La Hood, “we had a congressional staffer who had been on Bob Michel’s staff, and because he brought that background experience from Day One, became a leader in Congress.”

Houston, one of about a dozen Central Illinois mayors endorsing Davis, says he believes Davis can do the same.

Davis and Democrat David Gill are vying for the seat; incumbent U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (R-Urbana) dropped out of the race after winning the primary.
