KEYWORD

Alex Degman

Alex Degman is the host of the WTAX Weekend Newswatch, and is a fill in anchor/reporter. He can be heard Saturday mornings from 6am to 9am, and as a pinch hitter at other times: covering city councils and school boards, anchoring news or filling in for Bob Murray on the Morning Newswatch. You'll also likely hear him covering state news for the Illinois Radio Network, his full time job.

Alex has been at Newsradio WTAX on and off since August 2008 when he worked part time while getting his masters degree in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois Springfield. He left after graduate school to work at Newstalk 870 WHCU, another Saga station, in Ithaca, NY for a short time. He then moved to Macomb to host Morning Edition for NPR station WIUM, where he had previously worked as a student reporter while earning his undergraduate degrees from Western Illinois University.

He moved back to Springfield in early 2011 to work for the Illinois Radio Network, and is excited to host your preeminent weekend news and information source: the Weekend Newswatch.
